💡 Plan Dallas by Neighborhood
Dallas is very spread out. Group your plans by area so you aren't spending your girls’ trip driving back and forth across the city.
🚗 Expect to Drive or Use Rideshare
Dallas isn't a city where you'll necessarily walk from one neighborhood to the next. A car or Uber/Lyft will usually make exploring much easier, although DART is useful for certain areas and attractions.
✈️ Know Which Airport You're Flying Into
Dallas has two major airports. Dallas Love Field is less than 7 miles from Downtown, while DFW International is about 20 miles from Downtown, so check the airport before choosing your hotel or arranging transportation.
🚋 Use the Free M Line Trolley
The McKinney Avenue Trolley is free and connects Downtown, the Dallas Arts District and Uptown. It's an easy way to explore without moving your car.
🛍️ Give Bishop Arts a Few Hours
Don't treat The Bishop Arts District as one quick stop. It's an area where you'll want time to walk around, shop, grab drinks, eat and explore.
🍽️ Make Dinner Reservations
Popular Dallas restaurants can get extremely busy on Friday and Saturday nights. For a girls’ trip, I'd book your important dinners ahead instead of hoping to walk in.
🏈 Check the Event Calendar Before Booking
Cowboys games, concerts, major sporting events and conventions can affect hotel prices, traffic and parking throughout the Dallas area.
📍 Dallas and DFW Are NOT the Same Thing
Don't underestimate distances. Arlington, Frisco, Irving, Fort Worth and Dallas are all part of the greater DFW area, but they can be far apart. Check actual drive times before putting activities together on the same day.
🤠 Don't Try to Fit Fort Worth Into a Few Hours
If you want the Stockyards and the full Fort Worth experience, I'd make that its own day rather than trying to squeeze it between Dallas activities.
☀️ Take the Texas Heat Seriously
Dallas summers regularly have 100°F+ days. Plan outdoor activities for morning or evening when possible and save shopping, restaurants, museums and other indoor activities for the hottest part of the afternoon.
👠 Bring Cute Shoes AND Comfortable Shoes
Dallas is definitely a dress up city, but you'll still do plenty of walking in areas like Bishop Arts, the Arts District and shopping districts. Bring both.
🚙 Plan Parking Before Big Events
For concerts and sporting events, don't wait until you arrive to figure out parking. Buy parking ahead when possible and screenshot your pass before leaving the hotel.
🍸 Leave One Night Open
Dallas has so many restaurants, rooftop bars, cocktail spots and entertainment areas that I'd leave at least one evening somewhat flexible instead of scheduling every minute.

Don't plan your Dallas girls’ trip by mileage alone. Dallas traffic can turn what looks like a short drive on a map into a much longer trip. Build each day around one part of the metroplex whenever possible.
